Horror: the genre

some thought

On the message boards at work, there's a thread in which people are posting their all-time favourite horror films. (Yep, we work really hard here.) It's interesting to see what kinds of thing people consider to be horror. In among the first few responses were a couple of votes for films in the Alien series. I thought these were just straightforward sci-fi. Good job I don't categorise my reviews by genre, I guess. :)

And, for the record, my favourite horror so far is probably either Candyman or The Descent. What about yours?

Ring or Bubba Ho-tep

You know, I really thought you were extracting the urine with Bubba Ho-tep, but IMDB does list it under horror. Might have to check it out now. :)

Ring, on the other hand, was already on my Tartan Asia Extreme to-watch list.

I find it difficult enough awarding ratings to movies without singling out one favourite movie... so here are my favourites in no particular order, Rosemary's baby, Ring, Audition (if that counts as horror!), the Omen and the Exorcist. Wow if you analyse this you might think I had a problem with Kids!

The Church - a hint of naffness tho

Dumplings - gross

Also Old Boy - for the teeth *winces*. Thanks Colin...

Alien - can't actually watch this without stopping to make several cups of tea
