Alien Autopsy

4 out of 10 Ant & Dec in a film. Hmmm. They still can’t act beyond 30-second parodies on ITV reality shows and their selling points were wasted on this. Throughout, this was pretty poor, but towards the end, I started to find the story quite interesting, hence the near-respectable rating. Just a shame it was lost in a crap film.

Grosse Pointe Blank

7 out of 10 John Cusack’s one of my favourite actors, but while this was entertaining enough, it didn’t stand out to the degree I’d been led to expect. Maybe that’s just because I wasn’t really expecting a rom-com. I’d simply heard the film was good, so I figured I’d watch it. Pity it ended rather weakly with the traditional happy ending, but it was still good for popcorn.

The Bourne Supremacy

8 out of 10 I really like both of the Bourne movies. They’re like James Bond, but without the corn and cheese. And with amnesia. ‘Supremacy’ follows a remarkably similar path to the first film, but that doesn’t detract from it. Matt Damon suits the role really well too. I hope a third one’s in the making, but it’ll need to develop the character a bit more. You can’t write assassin-recovering-from-amnesia stories forever.

BASEketball

4 out of 10 Making the most of Grant’s extensive DVD collection, tonight it was the turn of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s sports-based buddy comedy thing. A similar type of humour to last night’s Anchorman, but it didn’t come close to the number of laughs. All a bit lame, really. And to think these guys gave us the excellent South Park movie. :-/

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

7 out of 10 Fairly enjoyable in a kind of tongue-in-cheek way, with plenty of one-liners you’ll be able to tire your mates with for weeks. Now I know where Grant gets half of the nonsense he comes out with. ;) Good doses of political incorrectness and plain stupidity added to the mix nicely. Even looks like half of it was ad-libbed, judging by the out-takes in the credits sequence.

Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story

8 out of 10 Would it be too lazy to say this was freakin’ sweet? Probably, but it was good. I mean, really, how far wrong can you go with 1½ hours of the best cartoon on TV? One highlight of many: Jesus performing miracles. Just watch it; you’ll see. :)

Underworld

6 out of 10 Surprisingly enjoyable rubbish, considering what I thought of the sequel . Speaking of which, I’ve already forgotten its story, which probably proves something. At least this one (the original) hangs together okay.
